Pencil Tree is a contemporary art gallery in Bath. We represent  a small collection of wonderful artists who paint in a modern style, both figurative and abstract.  Throughout the year we host private views & shopping events – sign up to our mailing list for info.

In addition to our gallery, collectors can view our collection at RHS Chelsea Flower Show in May and the Affordable Art Fair Battersea in October. For a limited time Paul Jackson’s large abstracts are also on show at Holloways of Ludlow in Bath.

We are a relaxed, informal gallery & love chatting about art. Contact us to find your perfect piece or enquire about commissioning a bespoke painting from one of our artists.

TRY BEFORE YOU BUY – Finding it hard to decide? We will bring a collection of paintings to your home to see what works best. You can live with one of the works for up to a week before purchasing to make sure its just right.

ART CONSULTANCY – Director, Kirstie Jackson, is an experienced Art Consultant who sources artworks from a network of galleries/artists/auction houses for private or commercial collections.

ART FOR HIRE – Hire paintings for shoots, TV or if you’re selling your house.  The right artwork makes an enormous difference. Please get in touch for more details.

Pencil Tree is on Cleveland Terrace, which is between Walcot Street & London Road.

There’s 1 hour free parking outside the shop, and outside the nearby Walcot Methodist chapel. There’s also free parking round on Cleveland Place West (outside the Curfew pub).

We are surrounded by other interesting independent interiors shops, including our near neighbours The Orange Chicken, James Townsend Antiques , Walcot Upholstery 

Further down Walcot Street you’ll find Rita Jayne art & antiques, Farrow & Ball, Graham & Green, the brilliant Walcot House (for food), Landrace (for bread & cakes) and Atelier Ellis.

Accessibility – we are on the ground floor, but there are 2 steps to the door & I’m afraid we don’t have a ramp or an accessible toilet.

OPEN Monday – Friday 10.00am – 4.00pm, Saturday by appointment.  Please call ahead if you’re making a special visit – just to check we’re here. Dogs & children welcome!
